Webb Welcomes the Class of 2015!
Mid-August saw the arrival of the 26 freshmen who comprise the class of 2015. From August 15 - 21, the freshmen quickly got to know one another – and the practice of free-hand drawing – during what has become Orientation to Webb. The drawing course, taught by newly “retired” Dean Emeritus Roger Compton, and aided by Nathan Hagan ’12, and Dean Neilson, provides a relaxed opportunity for the class members to get to know each other as well as learn about Webb life and history. During the evenings and later in the week, the students got to know the student orientation volunteers and leaders who had returned to campus for Leadership Week classes. Besides the normal indoctrination into the Webb life and student organizations, the freshmen activities also included a few trips off campus: to Six Flags, the Intrepid Air and Space Museum, and New York City for a day of exploring. These activities have proven to be worth the time and energy of the administration and student leaders who planned them; the reactions from the new freshmen about this week were nothing but positive.
