Admissions
Unique in the world of colleges, Webb Institute has its own special
approach to admissions. For instance, we look at the whole student: his or her abilities, attitudes, motivation,
and previous performance, both scholastic and extracurricular.
Given the highly focused nature of the curriculum, all
students enter as freshmen, even if they’re transferring from another college. Also, Webb does not offer
credits for advanced placement examinations or courses taken elsewhere.
It's total immersion: At Webb students live and study
on the shore of the Long Island Sound. They learn both the practical and theoretical aspects of naval
architecture and marine engineering. They work in the industry every winter. They sail, water ski, and
sail board in their spare time. And when they graduate, they have great jobs.
Those are just some of the reasons admission
is competitive. Other reasons: Webb Institute is top-ranked, the students of Webb pay
no tuition, and life at Webb is a great adventure.
