About Webb
Webb
Institute is a national asset. The
school's rigorous academic program and full-tuition scholarships are testament to the
foresight, generosity and greatness of its founder.
Numbers
Student Body: 94 undergraduates
Faculty: 10 full-time teaching
faculty. The student to faculty ratio is about 8:1. There are no teaching assistants at Webb: The faculty are the instructors
in both the classrooms and laboratories, and they maintain "open door" policies in support of student success.
Job placement:
Our job placement rate
is 100 percent. Graduate-school placement is also high: Change Magazine has ranked Webb fifth in
the nation as a source of empirical science Ph.D.s.
Tuition: It’s true: all students admitted to Webb
receive a four-year, full
tuition scholarship. Fees are limited to room, board, books, and personal expenses.

On Campus
Academic program: Our only major,
Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, involves several
engineering disciplines, including ship design and systems engineering; marine engineering; electrical engineering; mechanical
engineering; and civil/structural engineering. During Winter
Work Term, students work in the maritime industry making us the only private college of naval architecture that provides
a salaried work experience during each of the four years of study.
Students live on campus, a 26-acre estate with a
private beach, and, of course, boats. Webb has a time-tested
honor code, and a full range of student activities.
Webb students work hard mastering advanced
mathematics, building and testing models and they play hard tennis, basketball, and billiards. And don’t forget we’re on the water.
We also have some special
arrangements. Interested students can use the local YMCA at no cost. And musicians can participate in the North Shore Symphony Orchestra.
