and John A. Malone '71 jump
into Long Island Sound.

 

President Robert C. Olsen and Mr. John Malone '71, Chairman of the Webb Alumni Fund, fulfilled their promise to the school community by jumping into Long Island Sound on Saturday, May 19, 2007 during Homecoming. Both Olsen and Malone promised to jump into the Sound if the Webb Alumni Fund participation level for the 2005-06 year surpassed 75%. In the 2005-06 fund year, participation reached an all-time high of 76.1%, with a total of $629,186 contributed by 790 of the 1,029 living members of the Webb Alumni Association.

Observing the activities from the shore, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mr. Joseph J. Cuneo '57, was asked by Mr. Malone when he was going to take the plunge. Mr. Cuneo replied that if the Alumni Fund surpasses $1,000,000 in one year (REGULAR contributions exclusive of one time gifts or planned giving gifts), he would be happy to participate! We have just been challenged again!
