4/9 - Webb vs. Sarah Lawrence

By HVMAC Tennis Coach Patrick Doherty

The Webb tennis team moved to 2-0 in the HVMAC conference with a solid 7-2 victory over Sarah  Lawrence College on Saturday. A talented squad, a spectacular day, and a beautiful campus with a 6:1 female to male ratio explains why our team enjoys the trip to Bronxville, NY every year! Webb’s #1 singles player, Michael Cheng ’12  played a terrific match and secured a 10-3 victory at the top spot. Sean Doran ’12  (3-1) and Schuyler Needham ’12  beat a very tough #1 doubles tandem with a 9 – 7 win. Freshman Rachel “Lucy” Walker ’14  picked up the “Rookie of the Match” honors and her first Webb career victory alongside partner Dale Pederson ’12  (3-1) in their #3 Doubles match. Jon “Bosley” Soja ‘13  (4-0) secured the Player of the Match honors and  picked up double victories on the day at the #4 Singles slot and the #2 Doubles slot with his partner Dan Dwyer ’13  (4-0)!

The team travels to Brooklyn on 4/11 for a pivotal HVMAC match against an always tough Pratt Institute. We visit the USMMA on 4/13 before heading off to a well deserved Spring Break!
